Getting Back To Your Roots
BEGINNER TIPS
Birth Bug was made on the basis that nature has the power to provide us with everything we need to be well, and that by connecting with the natural world, we can achieve greater balance and connection within ourselves. We are often challenged with disconnect everyday. Here are some simple ways to connect with our inner selves and nature herself:
1: get barefoot
Take off your shoes and connect with the ground. The earth provides electromagnetic energy through her ground that sends healing power to the base of our being. Imagine energy radiating from your feet to the ends of your fingertips.
2: eat whole foods
Cut up some watermelon or some other tasty fruit and savor that sweetness. If you eat meat, thank the animal for feeding and nourishing your body. Really, enjoy every bite!
3: be intentional
When you hear that things are “made with love”, they are made with intentions. When doing normal tasks, ask yourself what effect doing these tasks have on yourself and others. Set your intentions on what you want each task to create as you’re doing them. For example; when cooking breakfast or dinner, you are making it with love and nourishment for your family- when brushing your teeth, you are completing a form of self care- when you are playing with your kids, you are in the present moment and communicating in their love language.
4: read a book
Get in tuned with your inner voice and read a book that interests you or challenges you. Write notes and underline or highlight things that stand out to you. If you don’t understand something, circle it and research it later then write the resolution next to your circle. When you read back, you will get to read how you experienced it and it may even spark new ideas.
5: put down the screen
We can get caught up in our work, scrolling, staying in touch, staying accessible, binge watching, researching, etc. Take a moment to pause, put the screen down, and step away. Look around the area you are in and identify 5 things that are not electronics. Take a walk outside. Write in a journal. Make a snack.
6: picnic at the park
Grab a blanket, hammock, ball, or book and hang at the park. Shoot some hoops or kick the ball around and exert your energy outside. Take a nap in the hammock or on your blanket. Eat some snacks. Maybe pet a dog or two.
7: take a hike
Simply exist in nature. Let nature be present in your space, watch the birds fly and bugs crawl. Hiking can mean climbing a mountain or just simply wandering on a trail. If you find a nice view, even better.
8: home remedies for minor ailments
There’s nothing more healing when you can create medicine with your own hands. When dealing with minor issues, find and create home remedies that work for you rather than running to urgent care or OTC medicine. There may be a trail to finding the root of your pain. Find it and go from there. (Please seek help if you are experiencing serious conditions, do NOT take this as medical advice in replacement of your care provider).
9: take a solo drive
If you are close to a rural area, find a nice scenic drive that allows you to open your inter dialogue. Roll the windows down and let your thoughts fly. Drive somewhere you have never been and just express any thoughts you bottle up when you’re in town.
10: water
Staying hydrated is an important aspect of our wellness. It is cleansing and often refreshing. It is what we are made of, just as our planet. Drink some hot tea, pour a hot bath, and drink a full glass before bed.
